Brenda G. Wilson, 53

Brenda Gail Wilson, 53, of Hendersonville went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 10, 2004, in Mission Hospitals at Asheville following an extended illness.

She was born in Henderson County, a daughter of the late Dewey Wilson and Carrie Fowler Wilson and was an area resident all of her life. A social worker with more than 20 years of service, she was employed by the Henderson County Council on Aging, Western Carolina Community Action and Interfaith Assistance Ministry. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Wilson and Owen Wilson; and a sister, Carolyn McCrain.

Her love for God, family and gospel music could be seen in her life, and this was her life, serving God, the one who saved her. She served God faithfully for many years by singing and testifying with I'm So Glad He Found Me, Jesus Stooped and Lifted Me, The Good Shepherd and her favorite song, Beulah Land. She was a faithful member of Fair Haven Baptist Church. Prior to her illness, she taught the adult ladies Sunday school class. She was loved and cherished by all who knew her, but God loved her more and now she is with him, the one who Went A Little Farther and is Sheltered in the Arms of God. We've Been So Blessed and Have a Longing for the same home that she now has. Remember this, and she would tell us all now, He's in the Midst of our Storm.

She is survived by two sisters, Reba Wehunt and her husband, Billy, and Marie Cairnes of Hendersonville; two brothers, Lewis Wilson of Fletcher and Robert "Bob" Wilson and his wife, Judy, of Tuxedo; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. today at Fair Haven Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Corn will officiate. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors, and at other times will be at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Reba and Billy Wehunt. Memorials may be made to Interfaith Assistance Ministry, 210 Ehringhaus St., Hendersonville, N.C. 28739.
