ENGELHARD - Merdis Marie MANN, 62, died September 8 in Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven. Mrs. Mann was employed as a crab picker by a local seafood company. She is survived by her husband, Wester Mann, and daughter, Sylvia M. Whitfield, both of Engelhard; six sons [only 5 named]: Donald Mann, Larry Mann, Howard Mann, Mac McCoy Mann, all of Engelhard, and Cornell Mann of Raleigh; one sister, Grace Walker of Engelhard; four brothers: Tilson Young and Tom Young, both of Engelhard, William H. Young and George Young, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and 23 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at First United Pentecostal Church of Engelhard with burial following in the Brown Memorial Cemetery. Pastor George Merrick will officiate. Rowsom Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge.
