ENGELHARD - Maldez Antonio BARBER, of Rt. 1, Engelhard, died in Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven. Mr. Barber was born June 15, 1974, a son of Bobby Linwood and Carolyn Whitaker Barber. He was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Disciple Church and was a member of the Mattamuskeet High School football team. Surviving with his parents are sister, Malisha Barber; a brother, Mario Alonzo Barber of the home; his maternal grandparents, Mrs. Herma Whitaker and Bobby Sadler of Hyde County; his paternal grandparents, Mrs. Essie Smith of Washington D.C. and Billy Richard of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a great-grandmother, Mrs. Louie Ann Barber of Hyde County; and a great-grandfather Atmore Whitaker of Hyde County. The family is at the home of his great-grandmother, Mrs. Louie Ann Barber of Hyde County. Funeral services were held Friday at Mattamuskeet High School in Hyde County with B.T. Boomer officiating.
