"Wilbur G. 'Buster' Abner, 46, of Smithville, died Saturday at a motel in Riverside. He was born in Newport, Ark., and had lived in the Kansas City area 26 years. He was a truck driver for Hudson and Odom Tire Co., Inc. Mr. Abner was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Beverly Abner of the home; a son, Darrell J. Abner of Kansas City; three daughters, Mrs. Teresa Barnes and Mrs. Linda Frost, both of Kansas City, and Mrs. Patricia Glenn of Smithville; a stepson, Michael Henry, and a stepdaughter, Shari Henry, both of the home; his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Abner of Kansas City; three brothers, Billy J. Abner and John D. Abner, both of Kansas City, and Ronnie Abner of Oregon; two sisters, Mrs. Wanda McCoy of Lamar, Mo., and Mrs. Joan Newman of Kansas City; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Newcomer White Chapel with burial in East Slope Memorial Gardens Cemetery." The Kansas City Star, June 11, 1978
