Brother: Matthew Joseph Cichy

Grandpa: Gordon R Pershell

Grandma: Mary Patricia "Pat" Pershell

Gavin Shea Daniel Cichy, of Gurnee, Illinois, departed this life one year ago today, at age 38, on March 17, 2020.

Gavin left behind his wife, Jenny J. Cichy, son, Jonathan Cichy, mother, Nancy Pershell, father, Joseph Cichy, sister, Jennifer, brother, Nathan Cichy, two nephews, a niece, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Gavin joined his brother Matthew Cichy, and grandparents Pat and Gordon Pershell of Mansfield and Walter Cichy of Maywood.

While in high school, Gavin completely rebuilt the engine of one of his Preludes. Although Honda Preludes were his favorite cars while in high school and college, Gavin always said someday he'd have a Beemer. Gavin was one of those rare individuals who had scholarly, book-learning intelligence, problem solving aptitude, and hands-on diagnostic, build, and repair abilities.

Gavin graduated from Booneville High School in 2000 with a full scholarship to Arkansas Technical Institute in Russellville; he had changed his initial major from Engineering to Business Administration.

Gavin later moved to Antioch, IL, where he built his GC's Mobile Marine business and had a snow plowing business during the off-season. Gavin had also been continuing his studies at Columbia College where he was a member of Sigma Beta Delta. Gavin and Jenny married; they traveled, boated, and had good times with family and friends. Gavin had just begun working in and setting up his brick and mortar marine shop in Antioch.

Gavin was a fun and adventurous person. As a child he traveled the country with his family and his extended family. There was always another adventure just waiting to be shared with family and friends. Gavin enjoyed road trips with his friends and all their new, exciting experiences. His love of acceleration progressed from bicycles to skateboards, cars (yes, he did get his Beemer) snowmobiles, boats, wave runners, and, lastly, his first motorcycle.

On August 29, 2019, Gavin sustained severe injuries in a motorcycle accident in Antioch, Illinois. The constant pain, along with his belief that he would spend the rest of his existence confined to a wheelchair, completely dependent upon others, was more than he could bear. Gavin was cremated; he wished to have his ashes spread in Lake Michigan. Covid has postponed this.

In honor of Gavin's life, he would encourage you to just get out there and do what you've always dreamed of doing, saying "Go for it!", and, prophetically, "Life is short."

Please not that Gavin's ashes are not in this cemetery, only those ashes of his older brother, Matt, are there.
