Herbert Douglas "Herb" Aplington, was born January 8, 1929 in College Place, Washington and passed away July 18, 2021 in Keizer Oregon. He was 92 years old.

Herb was the son of James Gordon Aplington and Lucile Agnes McCormack. Herb was a Private in the U.S. Army when he married his Junior High School sweetheart, Janise Eleanor Parsons the daughter of Vera Thelma McFarlane and George A. Parsons. They were married on September 10, 1947 in Vancouver, Clark County, Washington and were married almost 74 years.

Herb worked for Boise Cascade in Salem, Oregon for 41 years before retiring on March 29th, 1991. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved family camping trips.

Herb and Janise had three children together; Linda Dee Darst (David), Pamela Kay Ottele, Michael Duane Aplington (Rose). At the time of Herb's passing he had six Grandchildren, ten Great-Grandchildren, and one Great-Great-Granddaughter.

Herb is preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Lucile Aplington. He is survived by his wife Janise, his children and Grandchildren, his brothers Lewis Aplington (JoAn ), Darrel Aplington (Bonnie), sisters Jeannie Mannthey (Dave), and Vicki Lund (Bob).

His Grandson, Douglas said this about Herb's life: "I always saw Grandpa Herb as a role model of someone who seemed happy and intent on enjoying life. I can tell how much he loved Grandma and his family. It's impossible not to love Grandpa Herb."

At the request of the deceased there will be no services. He was interred at Belcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Willamette Valley Hospice.
