"Lamoyne"
(Civilian shore boat).
At about 1:50 a.m. the shore boat was making a trip from the landing in San Pedro to the ship's anchor in the harbor. When a couple of hundred yards from the U.S.S. Pennsylvania, an explosion occurred in the engine compartment, which was closed, and immediately the boat burst into flames forward, the flames quickly spreading throughout the boats so that it burned and sank in about one hour.
