Funeral services for C. Gene Barnes, 51, of Cairo, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Crain Funeral Home in Mounds. Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Mound City. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Barnes died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1932, at home. He was a veteran, having served 20 years with the U.S. Air Force. He was born June 25, 1931, in Houston, Texas, to Carol Andrew and Elnora Jewel Mae Cox Barnes. Survivors include his wife, Dorotha; one son, Bill Gene of Houston; two daughters, Karen of Cairo and Diane Cox of Houston; and four granddaughters.
