Mary Elizabeth Eddins (Eddings) was the 4th of 10 children born to William Eddings, Jr., 1802-1885, and Sarah "Sallie" Hooker, 1813-1877.

Mary's father was a wealthy farmer who owned 12 Slaves in 1860.

Mary's siblings were:  Rebecca Francis (married Dr. William T. F. Eddins), George W., Lucinda Jane (married Simeson C. Jackson), William A., Chole Tabitha (married James S. White, Sr.), Thomas Hooker, Nancy (died age 11), Charles Blackwell, and Jordan

Mary married William Henry L. Baird August 23. 1859 in Wilson Co., TN.
They had two daughters:  Ella Jane (Malone), and Kate (Sharp) (Elliott).
William H. L. Baird ran a livery stable and boarding house on Cedar Street in Nashville, TN.

Mary was widowed in 1895.
