Kent Stuart Anderson, the son of Montague Allen Anderson and Marjorie Beth Strauss, was a 1962 graduate of Newport Harbor High in Newport Beach, California, where he was an honor student, played Sailor football, was on the wrestling team, and participated in the senior play, "The Man Who Came To Dinner".


Kent, a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Marine Coprs, began a tour of duty in Vietnam on November 14, 1968. He was killed just one year later while co-piloting a helicopter that crashed when making a base landing in Thua Thien Province. When the incident occurred, Kent was only twenty-five years old and had served in the Marines for four years.


Kent was an Avid surfer. His wishes were to have his remains cremated and then scattered off the coast of of Newport Beach, California. This was accomplished by his family and the US Marine Corps.


The Anderson family established a scholarship fund dedicated to Kent's memory at Orange Coast Junior College in Costa Mesa, California.
