Gilbert Joseph Straub III, age 50, passed away April 2, 2020. Gilbert was born in Ann Arbor on September 13, 1969 to Gilbert Jr. and Kathleen (Hynes) Straub. He graduated from South Lyon High School. Gilbert is survived by his mother Kathy and step father Wally Mihalik, brother Wally (Jennifer) Mihalik, sister Eileen (Mike) Tetz; nephews: Gunnar, Jeremy and Ryan; nieces: Sabrina, Gabriella and Cierra; aunts Jill (Mark) Taulbee and Mary (Ray) Newton and uncles Mike (Brenda) Hynes and Brian Hynes, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Gilbert Jr., grandparents Gilbert and Laura Straub and Mike and Rosemary Hynes; and aunts Gilda, Laura Lee, Mary and Norma.
Gilbert loved superheroes, so much that his friends called him Captain America. He played hockey earlier in his life and also liked to bowl, go to the movies and spending time with his family. He loved helping people and had many wonderful friends. Gilbert was a good friend to everyone and will be deeply missed.
