A memorial service was held at Houston Valley State Park Saturday, August 6, 2011, for Freddy Gene Holt who passed from us on July 12, 2011, after having suffered with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Holt and mother, Addie Mae (Gilbert) Holt.
Gene, as knew him, was survived by wife, Arlene Shelton-Holt; brothers, Ricky Holt and wife, Maryanne, Danny Holt and wife Anne; sister, Debbie Holt. Gene's children by a former marriage are Shirley Jodean smith, Freddy Gene Holt, Jr., and Debbie Smith; grandchildren, Ashley Holt and Rhonda Suttles, Jack, Josh and Sharon Phoebus and Michael and Mackensie Smith; great-grandchild, Damien Hall. Step-children, Christi Marie Weiss and husband James, Mary Carol Ledford and husband, George Harold, Patrick Shelton Gouge and wife Eva Isobel and Sidney Gouge. Their children, Heather Marie Goins, Elizabeth Ann and Joseph Ledford, Jesse and Jacob Gouge. He treasured the great-grandchildren, Cara Dalton and Danica and Tyler Goins.
After the Military Honors presentation, Chaplin Mary Koontz gave his eulogy. Thank you, Gene, for helping to bring such peace and love to our family for the past twenty years.
