Grace Modesitt

H. Grace Modesitt, 86, of Washington, W.Va., passed away Aug. 27, 2007, at the Willows Nursing Center.

She was born Nov. 25, 1920, in Wirt County, a daughter of the late Ralph and Pearl Richards Tanner. She was a homemaker.

Surviving is her husband, Earl R. Modesitt of Eagle Pointe; two sons, Okey M. Ankrom of Washington and James Ankrom of Newton, N.J.; one daughter, Mary Ellen Bean of Granbury, Texas; five grandchildren, Phaedra Retnan, Bessie and Shane Ankrom and Molly and Abigail Ankrom; and one brother, Charles Tanner of Parkersburg.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Okey Ankrom of the 1092nd Battalion, casualty of the Korean War; and a brother, Wilbur "Webb" Tanner.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, with Pastor Bernard "Dobby" Thrash officiating. Entombment will follow at The Chapel of Peace Mausoleum of Sunset Memory Gardens. The visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
