Ernest Fredrick "Fritz" Digman, 74, of Parkersburg died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born in Parkersburg, a son of the late Virginia Augustine Digman.

He was a member of the 1948 graduate class of Parkersburg High School; graduated from Marietta College; was a United States Air Force veteran; and retired after 33 years of service from DuPont. He was also a member of Stout Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a dedicated "Big Red" fan, bowled in area leagues when he was younger and was an avid golfer.

He was a 50 year member and Past Potentate (1988) of the Nemesis Shrine; a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite of Freemasonry; past director (1995) of the Royal Order of Jesters Court 156; a member of Ohio Valley Shrine Club and; a member of Tyler County Shrine Club.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Vannoy Digman; four stepchildren, Dianna Wilson Carter of Parkersburg and her husband, David, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Karen Wilson Hussey and her husband, Jerry, of Nashville, Tenn., Russell and Jill Wilson and Darin and Tammie Wilson, all of Parkersburg; nine step grandchildren, Tiffany Wilson Freeman and her husband, Danny, of Parkersburg, Brittany Wilson of Parkersburg, Lauren and Dustin Hussey, both of Nashville, Beth Wilson of Havelock, N.C., Brandon and Zachary Taylor, both of Parkersburg, and Ashley and Charlie Martin, both of Belpre; two cousins, Betty Rollins of Parkersburg and Ernest Augustine of Lexington, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Neida Black Digman.

Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Stout Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Revs. A. Lindsay Thorpe and Karin Maxson officiating. Entombment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens with graveside rites by American Legion Post 15 and Parkersburg Masonic Lodge. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children Hospital Transport Fund, or Stout Memorial Church Courtyard Fund, 1712 34th St., Parkersburg, WV 26101.
