House of Romanov. Princess Consort of Prince Vilhelm, Duchess of Sudermania. Divorced 1914.∼Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna of Russia. Her father was the Grand Duke Paul Alexandrovich of Russia who was the son of Tsar Alexander II of Russia. Her mother was his first wife Princess Alexandra of Greece and Denmark who was the daughter of King George I of Greece and Olga, Queen Consort of the Hellenes.

Maria Pavlovna was a paternal first cousin of Tsar Nicholas II, and a maternal first cousin of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Consort of Elizabeth II.

In 1908 she married Prince Wilhelm, Duke of Sodermanland. The couple had only one son, Prince Lennart, Duke of Smaland, later Count Bernadotte of Wisborg. The marriage ended in divorce in 1914. In September 1917 she married Russian Prince Sergei Putyatin and they had one son who died in infancy. The couple escaped revolutionary Russia through the Ukraine in July 1918. Maria divorced her husband in 1923. Thereafter she lived the world in exile.
