Phillip Leon Ray, son of the late, James D. Ray and Maxie Virginia Hoover Ray; also preceded in death by his three brothers, Dan Wayne Ray, Lloyd Ray and Leonard Ray.

Survived by his wife of 30 years, Sally Laws Ray; daughter Nancy Ray (Anthony Woodby), and Glenda Ray; step -son, Terry Jones (Roycene); step-daughter, Janie Martin, (Anthony); two sisters, Thelma Ray Parmelee, and Barbara Ray Ingram; five grandsons; and one granddaughter.

Retired from Yancey County School System, of 26 years. He was also a Farmer.

Member of Bowditch Union Freewill Baptist Church.
