Jeanetta “Nettie” Hoogendoorn went home to her Lord on February 23, 2021, in Ripon, California. She was born Jeanetta Vanderbeek, on Independence Day July 4th, 1923, in Holland, Michigan.

She became Mrs. Jeanetta Hoogendoorn 79 years ago, when she married the love of her life, Nick Hoogendoorn. Nettie was a loving wife and helpmate to her husband, Nick, and the pair worked hard together on their almond ranch. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great- grandmother.

Nettie was nearly a life-long resident of Ripon (97 years), and was a recognized member of the community. Nettie was an active member of Calvary Reformed Church, where she taught catechism and Sunday school, and was an involved member of women’s groups. Her devotion to her Lord and Savior was an inspiration to everyone around her, and her bright spirit radiated with inner joy and love. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and her church community.

Jeanetta is preceded in passing by her son, Nick Hoogendoorn Jr., as well as three brothers and two sisters. Jeanetta is survived by her beloved husband of 79 years, Nick Hoogendoorn; children, Ken and Sandi Hoogendoorn of LaGrange, Marcia Hoogendoorn of Santa Cruz, and Debra Garcia of Vacaville; grandchildren, Kenny and Wendy Hoogendoorn of Ripon, Jeff Hoogendoorn of Escalon, David and Kim Hoogendoorn of Ripon, Ty and Kat Bedegrew of Roseville, Marty Kirchner of Brooklyn, NY, Peter and Betsy Kirchner of Santa Cruz, Christina Vieira of Woodland, and Joseph and Sarah Garcia of Hayward; as well as 14 great- grandchildren.

Donations in honor of Nettie can be made to the Stockton Gospel Center Rescue Mission as well as Ripon Christian School.

Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Hoogendoorn family. A visitation for Nettie will be held at the Deegans-Ripon Chapel on March 8, 2021 at 3 p.m.-6 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Ripon Cemetery on March 9, 2021 at 10 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony at Calvary Reformed Church in Ripon, at 11 a.m.
