Mr. Donnie Lee Barnes, age 69 of Ellijay, passed away on Tuesday March 2nd, 2021 at his residence.

Mr. Barnes was born in Gilmer County, Ga on June 28th, 1951. He is preceded in death by his adopted parents, Ode and Osie Watkins; uncle, Thurston Barnes; sisters, Renee Suyak and Sherry Cantrell; brothers, Randy and Johnny Cantrell. Mr. Barnes was previously employed by Ronnie Thompson Ford. He was of the Baptist faith and loved hunting, cars, and tractors.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Barnes; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jerome Lowman; step-mother, Irene Hopkins; two brothers, Danny Cantrell and Bill Hopkins; four sisters, Sue Cantrell, Lynn Williamson, Sandy Gilreath, and Terry Cantrell; three grandchildren, Matthew, Samuel, and Gracie Lowman.

A graveside service will be held on Friday March 5th, 2021 at 2 PM from Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Billy Dotson officiating. Pallbearers serving include, Matthew Lowman, Jerome Lowman, Billy Ayers, Billy Crump, Larry Suyak, and Danny Hensley. Honorary pallbearers are Samuel Lowman, Ben Hopkins, Bennie Garland, and Danny Cantrell.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 12 PM until 1:30 PM at the funeral home.
