Kevin Carl Binkley
August 6, 1961 - February 19, 2021

Kevin Carl Binkley, 59, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on February 19, 2021. Kevin shared coming into the world in Detroit, Michigan, with his two sisters, Kay and Kelly. He adored them both and was forever impressed with his mother, Jill, for triple-tasking her maternity with triplets. Kelly preceded Kevin in death in 1993.

Kevin loved Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan, where he graduated with General Studies (Economics) and MBA (Finance) degrees. He worked for Jacobson Stores at the headquarters in Jackson, Michigan, for 15 years, as treasurer for a majority of those years. He loved Jacobson's and its family of associates, customers, and stakeholders. He worked at Belk, Inc., in Charlotte, North Carolina, for nine years, as treasurer for the last several of those years. Kevin was passionate about critical thinking and travel, but his passion was singing. He sang with church choirs most of his life and performed leading roles in more than 20 community theater productions in Jackson and Ann Arbor.

He is survived by his mother, Jill Binkley, of Whitmore Lake, Michigan; father and stepmother, Carl and Sharon (Sue) Binkley, of Marshall, Michigan; and his sister, brother-in-law and niece, Kay, Brian, and Joy Kitts, of Monument, Colorado. His heart was full of pride for the Kitts family.

Kevin also leaves behind his very beloved dog, Buster, who showed up under Kevin's car one morning five and a half years ago as a scared little puppy. They became a close team and brought great joy to each other and to Buster's many fans. Kevin enjoyed creating small moments of joy for others, often anonymously. He would send cards and gifts under such names as the Birthday Fairy, Get Well Fairy, Appreciation Fairy, Jewelry Fairy, Car Repair Fairy, Good & Naughty Elf, the Universe, etc.

If you want to honor Kevin's life, and are so inclined, please keep in touch with his family. Consider brightening someone's day with an anonymous gesture, or make a contribution to one of these organizations important to Kevin: Charlotte Master Chorale (charlottemasterchorale.org), PO Box 511, Matthews, NC, 28106; Ann Arbor Civic Theatre (www.a2ct.org), 322 W. Ann St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104; and Center Stage Jackson (centerstagejackson.org), PO Box 822, Jackson, MI 49204.

A family service of dedication will take place at a later date in the Memorial Garden of First Presbyterian Church, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
