Father of Jessie Acy Buried Friday
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Friday, May 23, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church at Black Hawk for Earnest Malone Acy, 82, father of Jessie Acy, Brookhaven. Mr. Acy died at the Greenwood Leflore Hospital following a short illness.
Burial was in Harmony Cemetery in Carroll County with the Rev. Byron Stringer, assisted by the Rev. Leon Holly, officiating.
Mr. Acy was a life long resident of Carroll County a retired farmer and a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
He is survived by 20 children, Jessie Acy, Brookhaven; Mrs. Mamie Robertson, Mrs. Ernestine Robertson, Mrs. Lucille Carpenter, Angus Acy and Mrs. Sara Funderburk of Black Hawk; Howard Acy and Walter Acy, both of Jackson; Mrs. Clarice Dunn, Greenwood; Vickie, Jane, kay and Nannie Acy, all of Clinton; Leroy Acy, Linwod, Caif.; Houston Acy, Fort Ord, Calif.; Mrs. Betty Campbell, Memphis and Mrs. Carolyn Searcy, Hobbs, New Mexico. He is also survived by a brother, Thomas Acy of Black Hawk, and a sister, Mrs. Sadie Lehman of Lexington; 5 grandchildren, 92 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were his grandsons.
