Jean K. Meyer
September 12, 1942 ~ February 11, 2021 (age 78)

Howards Grove - Jean K. Meyer, 78, of Howards Grove, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Harvest Home in Howards Grove.

Jean was born on September 12, 1942, to Arthur and Marcella (Spindler) Voss in the Town of Meeme. Jean graduated from Kiel High School in 1960. After high school, Jean went to work at Borden's in Plymouth, where she met the love of her life, Darwin Meyer. Jean and Darwin were wed on December 1, 1962. Together, they raised three children, John, Debbie, and James on the hobby farm that they purchased outside of Kiel.

Jean began her working career at Meeme school as a teacher's aide. After her time at the school, she worked as a receptionist for HUI in Kiel and Kangaroo Messenger Service in Sheboygan. Outside of her work as a receptionist, she held the unofficial title of Farm Manager on her and Darwin's hobby farm. She loved her work on the farm - raising animals, gardening vegetables and flowers, and teaching her kids how to take care of everything on the farm.

Jean was a very strong and supportive wife and mother, who always put her family first. She had an enormous love for her animals, especially Dolly and Frosty.

Jean will be missed by her husband of 58 years, Darwin; her children, John (Nicole), Debbie (Dave) Wills, and James (Tonia); grandchildren, Andrew (Cheyenne), Christi (Mike) Brockmann, William (Amber), Cassondra, Makayla, Amanda (Kevin) Kettenhoven, Amber, Dustin, and Lily; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Floyd (Bev) Voss and Earl Voss; sister, Joyce Lisowe; many other relatives and friends.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Larry Lisowe.

A private Celebration of Life Service with Pastor Nathan Athorp officiating will be held for Jean at Zimmer Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center. Jean's Celebration of Life will be livestreamed and available to be viewed at 4:15 PM on Monday, February 15, 2021, from her obituary page on www.zimmerfuneralhome.com.

A public visitation will be held from 3:00 - 4:00 PM on Monday, February 15, 2021, at Zimmer Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center. Please follow all COVID-19 guidelines including mask-wearing and social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorials be sent to the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

Jean's family would like to thank the staff at Harvest Home in Howards Grove for taking such great care of both Jean and Darwin over the last four years. They would also like to extend their thanks to the nurses with Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion that they showed Jean and her family.
