Jerry H. Grant Jr., 86, of Fort Gratiot, died Wednesday, May 16, 2018.

He was born April 29, 1932 in Marquette to the late Jerry H. and Rose Mary Grant Sr. He married Eleanor J. Clyne on December 27, 1952 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Port Huron.

Jerry was a 1951 graduate of St. Stephen Catholic High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956. He was employed at the Grand Trunk Western Railroad as a car man and worked his way up in the union from local steward, general chairman and eventually vice-president of the TCU/IAM. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

He enjoyed building model trains and Lego Technic sets. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor J. Grant; his children, Daniel and Patti Grant, Karen and Tom Gaffney, Tom and Judi Grant, Robert and Lorie Grant, Ronald and Patti Grant and Kathy Grant; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren: sister, Peggy Stockwell; two sisters-in-law, Bertha Clyne and Mary Rita Gierman; several nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Dorothy and Bernard Lemanski. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Patricia Grant, Lois Gierman and Rosemary Bradford.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. in the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2018 in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Very Reverend Salvatore Palazzolo, K.H.S. will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the United States. Air Force and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or St. Mary Catholic Church.
