Murder Charge Cites Housewife
JACKSONVILLE - A Cherokee County mother of seven is in the Cherokee County Jail charged with the murder of her husband early Saturday morning at thier hom in the Blackjack Community near Troup.
Robert Lee Warren, 38, was shot to death at 6:45am, Saturday. Justice of the Peace A.J. Brazil ruled Warren died instantly of a shot in the face from a 12-gauge single-barrel shotgun. Brazil said Warren was shot as he entered the house through the back door.
Jailed on a charge of murder with malice aforethought is Mrs. Annie Faye Dubberly Warren. Bond had not been set Saturday. Mrs. Warren was taken into custody by Duputies Allen Horton and Bobby TGownley shortly after the shooting and arraigned before Justice of the Peace C.A. Portis of Rusk. She will be bound over for grand jury action according to officials.
Sheriff Allen Dotson said the shooting apparently stemmed from a family argument.
Funeral services are set for 4 pm today in the chapel of Renfro Funeral Home with Rev. O.B. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Smith County.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Robert Lee Warren, Ernie L. Warren, Charles Warren, James Warren, and Jerry Warren, all of Troup; two daughters, Miss Marie Ann and Glenda Fay Warren, both of Troup; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Warren of Troup; a brother, Everett Charles Warren of Troup; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Hayes, Whitehouse; Mrs. DOvie Culpepper of Tyler, and Mrs. Laura Culpepper of Tyler.
Pallbearers will be Ted Cates, James Coates, Bill Coates, Raymond Hill, Bobby Culpepper, and Jerry Culpepper.
