She died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 1980, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette after an illness of several years.
Born June 14, 1937, in Davenport, Iowa, she was the daughter of John E and Ellen Berry Dempsey, who survive.
A graduate of Delphi High School and Manchester College, she earned a master's degree from Purdue University. A teacher in the Lafayette schools for 17 years, she was a member of the Delphi Christian Church, Rose Chapter No. 36 of the Order of Eastern Star and Bethany White Shrine No. 8 at Lafayette.
Also surviving are a brother, Jack R. Dempsey of Terre Haute, two sisters, Barbara Bays of Plantation, Fla., and Patricia Bond of Milwaukee, Wis.
