She graduated from Oak Ridge, MO. H.S. in 1941 and was the last surviving member of that class.
Marty moved to St. Louis where she met her husband to be, Lawrence L. Roesch, who was stationed at Jefferson Barracks. They were married on Oct. 10, 1943, after which he was deployed with the U.S. Army to India. He returned two years later when they moved to Iowa City. To this union were born two children, Gayle (Baldridge/Royar) and Gregory.
Bremers hired Marty to be in charge of their women's department. After the store burned, she worked at Seifert's Store for Women for 25 yrs., retiring in 1987, then working part time for 5 more yrs. She had a gift for putting outfits and accessories together and was always their top salesclerk.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, UMW, Mercy Hospital Guild (gift shop), and University Club. She enjoyed sewing, playing bridge and was an avid reader.
Having survived cancer 5 times since 1968 and numerous fractures (2 hip, pelvis, leg, neck, and rib in the past 7 years), she succumbed to COVID at Briarwood Health Care Center on January 12, 2021 at the age of 97.
She was proceeded in death by her husband (2003) and son (2020).
Survivors include her daughter, Gayle and her husband Rev. Kenneth Royar, Rachael Baldridge Mayer Vivian (Travis), Jill and Heather Roesch and sister Joyce Gbur.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
