GALENA, KANSAS: Bertha Irene Goff, age 92, passed away at 2:10 am, Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at Galena Nursing Center, Galena, KS following an illness.
Mrs. Goff was born January 4, 1915 in Purdy, MO. Her parents were John and Minnie (Bowen) Barrett. She had lived in Southeast Kansas most of her life, moving from the State of Missouri.

She was a homemaker. She was a minister of the Gospel and she had worked as a foster parent for several years. Sister Goff was pastor of several area churches, including Empire Mission, Galena KS and 5th Street Missions, Baxter Springs, KS. Among her interests was quilting, gardening and cooking.

Mrs. Goff was married to Marvin Luther Goff on October 23, 1931 in Newton County, MO. He died October 3, 1989.

Surviving is one son, Darrel Goff (wife, Betty), Galena, KS; one sister, Chlora Brashers, Oronogo MO; 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Jerry LaTurner, Galena, KS.

In addition to her parents, she had two children precede her in death; Bobbie Goff and Luther Goff.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 11, 2007 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Pastor Randy DePriest will officiate. Burial will be in Lowell Cemetery, Lowell, KS. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 pm, Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Galena Nursing Center Activity Fund.
