Mark S. Dietrich of Uvalde, Texas passed away on December 27, 2020 at the age of 59. He was born on September 2, 1961 in San Antonio, Texas to Clark and Estela Dietrich.

He married Gina Dietrich on March 18, 1989 in San Antonio, Texas.

Mark was a 1979 graduate of Southwest High School in San Antonio, Texas. He served in the United States Navy for 26 years and retired as a highly decorated Senior Chief Petty Officer. His proudest and most honorable times were the years he served in Special Operations with Special Projects Patrol Squadron One - Old Buzzards and Special Projects Patrol Squadron Two - Wizards. After retirement, he began his work with the US Fish & Wildlife Department, and graduated in 2019 from Sul Ross State University with a degree in Criminal Justice. Mark was an all-around outdoorsman, and transformed a lifelong interest in taxidermy into his own business that he aptly named Old Buzzard Taxidermy.

He is survived by his wife, Gina Dietrich of Uvalde, Texas; mother, Estela Dietrich of San Antonio, Texas; three daughters, Misty Gutierrez and husband Robert of San Antonio, Texas, Wendy Gutierrez and husband Gabriel of Houston, Texas, and Alexandra Dietrich of Uvalde, Texas; one son, Garrett Dietrich of Uvalde, Texas; two brothers, Chris Dietrich and wife Debbie of San Antonio, Texas, and Brian Dietrich and wife Kim of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Lori Mariner and husband Johnny of San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren, Layla and Lola Dietrich of Uvalde, Texas, Robert "Jr." Gutierrez, Angel Gutierrez, Kaley Smith, and Ashlyn Smith of San Antonio, Texas, Gabriel "Jr" Gutierrez and Benito "Benny" Gutierrez of Houston, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his father, Clark Dietrich; father-in-law Rogelio “Roy” Luevano; granddaughter Abbygail Gutierrez, and niece Brittanie Dietrich.

Mark was a strong, courageous, and devoted family man. He was a man of many talents and loved his Country.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 1, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Cemetery. A visitation will be held on December 31, 2020 from 12PM-9PM at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
