Mr. Jimmie Attaway Rivers, age 89, went home to be with his Lord and was reunited with his beloved wife, Fanell on Wednesday, December 23, 2020. Due to the continued COVID-19 risk, the family has chosen to have a Private Family Graveside Service at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Rivers was born September 15, 1931 in the Zoar Community of Chesterfield County, SC a son of the late Louis H. and Dora Parker Rivers. He was a graduate of Mt. Croghan High School and was a life-long farmer. Mr. Rivers was a retired employee of West Knitting of Wadesboro, and a former employee of Delta Mills, and Cheraw Dyeing and Finishing. A faithful member of Elizabeth Baptist Church for over 70 years, Attaway served his Lord and the church as a Deacon, former Sunday school superintendent, and taught the couples Sunday school class along with his late wife, Fanell for many years. He enjoyed fishing, growing large gardens each year to gift others with his vegetables, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Rivers was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Fanell Pigg Rivers; and brother, Louis Davis Rivers.
