THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR VISITING OUR BEAUTIFUL LITTLE PURRBIE DOLL
One stormy night back in September 2019 we saw under the barn light as the thunder rolled and the lighting flashed a mama cat and four precious little kittens. It had almost been a year since we lost our sweet little Cocamo Joe. The next morning the mama cat and only three kittens were all we saw. As we walked out to the feed truck to go feed the cattle I noticed one of the kittens off by his self and said, "well hello there sweetie" he came running to me I couldn't believe it he was so little and so skinny I knew then he was special as that is just not how feral cats act! They were so hungry so as soon as I had time I made a trip to town for kitten food. After that first morning we never saw the second kitten again only two kittens were left we have no idea what happen to the other two. When we started feeding the two kittens the mama cat decided she could use the break and would wander through now and then but let us take over the raising part. One turned out to be a little girl (who was quite a bit bigger guess she would take all the food mama brought home) one turned out to be a little boy! The girl we named Lola Sissy and the boy Odie but for some reason his name grew from Odie to Odie Otis and finally to Odie Otis Odell don't ask me why! It took just a short time but we were holding and playing with little Odie he was even coming inside the barn office and feeling at home up on Doug's desk looking at the weather report on the DTN and taking naps on Doug's lap. He had a horrible respiratory infection so I call our vet and they said bring him in November 27th (exact same day we took our little Cocamo Joe in to have him put to sleep). The vet gave him a shot and sent us home with an antibiotic to give Odie for 10 days he was feeling better and well in no time! Lola Sissy on the other hand was just the opposite couldn't even get close to her she was totally feral but thankfully seems to be well and healthy! When they were both six months old we started feeding them in live traps a month before they were to be neutered and spayed so we could catch Lola. Both kittens did wonderful after their surgeries. We love these two little kittens and they loved each other and was always together! Every morning they would be sitting at the back door waiting to greet us and for breakfast and treats. Not long ago Lola Sissy started coming closer to us and finally one day wanted to show her love as she started rubbing on our legs she will let us pet her but will not allow being picked up she just goes bonkers but that was fine with us its who she is and we accept that.
On Friday November 27, 2020 exactly two years after we had to have our little Cocamo Joe put to sleep because of cancer Doug fed both kittens before dark and everything seem fine and normal. The next morning Lola Sissy was at the back door but no sign of our little Odie anywhere! We searched everywhere we knew to look, call for him till we nearly lost our voices he was no where! Deep down in my heart I don't feel like anything got him but still we can't figure out what could have happened to our sweet little kitten! Today he has been gone 15 days, we don't have any neighbors to the north or east and the farms south and west of us are a long way away, in our hearts we know he is gone forever so that is why I am writing this memorial in our precious little boy's memory. The part I dislike about having and a loving a pet is the part of losing them....life is never the same!
