GALENA, Kan. - Murrel M. Gandy, 89, Galena route 2, died at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., following a six- week illness.
Mr. Gandy, born June 9, 1913, near Baxter Springs, had resided near Galena since January of 1974, after retiring as field accountant for a large construction company and moving here from Upland, Calif. He was a member of Sixth Street Baptist Church, Galena; Lodge No. 194, AF4AM, Galena, and Amy Chapter No. 165, Order of the Eastern Star, Galena.
He married Doris Fox on March 10, 1936, in Galena. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Joy Anne Nowotney, Carrollton, Texas, and Mrs Judy B. Flohr, Coon Rapids, Minn.; a brother, Fred Gandy, Carthage, Mo., route 2; a sister, Mrs Opal Moffet, Joplin; and three grandchildren. Arrangements will be announced by Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena.
