Grandma Norris Buried Here. The remains of Grandma Norris, former resident of McCune, were brought here for burial Tuesday of this week. The funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Underhill Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. H. L Dolson, and burial took place in the McCune cemetery. Mrs. Norris was making her home with her daughter, near Liberal, Kansas at the time of her death, on April 22. She was 85 years, 7 months and 22 days of age.
Emily A. Mitchell was born August 29, 1837 in Kentucky. She was married to Sceneca Applegate, and to this union two sons were born, both of whom reside in Oregon. Her husband was killed during the Civil war, and she was married to Edward A. Norris February 24, 1867. To this union five children were born. The eldest, Lydia A. Norris is deceased, and the remaining children are: Maggie A. York, Liberal, Kansas, Mattie L. Whitman, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Phyllis B. Underhill, Free-water, Oregon, and Minnie M. Auberry, Liberal, Kansas.. Besides a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her departure. She leavea fifteen grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
