Jean Evelyn Newbury Cole, 83, of Ravenswood died Dec. 7, 2004, at Ravenswood Village Center.
She was born Oct. 8, 1921, in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada, a daughter of the late William and Violet Halfyard Newbury. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church in Ravenswood and a member of her church circle. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to several area clubs.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert H. Cole of Ravenswood; daughters, Janet Pickens of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Margaret Brooks and her husband, Tom, of Charleston, S.C., and Nancy Williams-Berry and her husband, Kent, of Lexington, Ky.; son, Bill Cole and his wife, Rosemary, of Ravenswood; and seven grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Robert, killed in World War II; a younger brother, Gerald; and a granddaughter, Emily Pickens.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Ravenswood, with the Rev. Ron Stoner. Burial will be in Ravenswood Cemetery. Friends may visit from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood.
