Born October 22, 1923, in Charleston, SC, son of the late Stephen Arnold Brooks (1879–1944) and Minnie C Graupman Brooks (1894–1968); husband of Ethelrene Hogg Brooks (1924–2012).
A graduate of Charleston High School, Cone Electronic School in Chicago, IL, and completed data processing training at the Citadel.
Retired Vice-President of Data Processing with Geer Drug Company after 46 years of service, was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, a former member of the Breakfast Optimist Club, an active ham radio operator, and a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II stationed in China.
Survivors also include his daughter, Caroline B. Ruppe (Bobby E.); and two grandsons, Brooks Sean Ruppe and S/Sgt. Stephen B. Ruppe (U.S. Army).
Visitation was held 7:00-8:30 pm, Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, September 20, 2007, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. R. E. Lybrand, Jr. and the Rev. Everette L. Lineberger. Entombment was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum.
