Lelia Marie Summers Penland, 84, a resident of the Arbors at Fairmont, formerly of Main St., Rivesville, passed away Tuesday evening (May 8, 2007) in Fairmont General Hospital.

She was born Aug. 19, 1922, in Catawba, daughter of the late Earl and Birdie Kirby Summers.

She was a member of Highlawns United Methodist Church in Rivesville.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Robert and Barbara Watkins of Kinsman, Ohio, and Roger and Judy Penland of Fairmont; two sisters, Eloise Martin and Beatrice Osborne, both of Rivesville; six grandchildren, Stacy and Bridget Watkins of Warren, Ohio, Sgt. Jonathan E. and Amber Penland of Midland Park, N.C., Andrew Penland, Roger Penland Jr., and Mark Penland, all of Fairmont; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Lawrence, Earl "June", Francis, and Harold Summers; and two sisters, Ada DePompe and Kathleen Summers.

Friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, Jasper Street, Rivesville, from 3-8 p.m. today and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Arnettsville Cemetery, Arnettsville.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to The Respiratory Therapy Dept., Fairmont General Hospital, 1325 Locust Ave., Fairmont, WV.
