David M. Newcomb, 50, born January 30, 1957, in Evansville, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on September 26, 2007.
David graduated from Harrison High School in 1975. David worked in the communications and advertising business for many years before working for the Ft. Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce where he retired in 2001 due to illness from cancer. David was an avid gardener, fisherman, and loved working in his woodworking shop. David's family would like to express a sincere appreciation for the nurses on the STICU unit and St. Mary's Medical Center. A special thanks to Dr. Mark Logan and Dr. Gregory White, and all the doctors and staff of Vanderbilt University. A very special thanks to David's pastor, Jeff Stratton of the American Baptist East Church.
He is survived by his fiancee, Kim Afana and her son, Karum; his daughters, Lauren Newcomb of Chicago, Ill., and Shannon Sexton and her husband, Landon, of Terre Haute, Ind.; his son, Michael A. Newcomb of Louisiana; his parents, Ken, Sr. and Phyllis Newcomb, of Evansville; his sister, Vicki Bierley and fiance, Mike Rozanski, of Evansville; his brother, Ken Newcomb Jr. of Evansville; grandmother, Mary Newcomb of Evansville; grandson Amza Sexton of Terre Haute, Ind.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2007, at Boone Funeral Home-East Chapel, 5330 Washington Ave., Evansville, IN 47715, with Pastor Jeff Stratton officiating. Burial will held in Park Lawn Cemetery, Evansville.
