Goff was the son of Jacob William Heavner and Emma Elizabeth Snyder. Worked as a coal miner and a farmer while living in West Virginia. Married Lacie Virginia Mick on August 10, 1915 in Buckhannon, Upshur County, WV. They had 9 children all born in West Virginia: Mildred Virginia, Reeta Blanche, Homer Leroy, twins Maxine Faye and Geraldine Gay, Shirley Elizabeth, Goff Brennie, Jr., Elda Jean, and Wilda Lea Heavner. The family moved to Massachusetts sometime in the 1940's and settled in West Upton, MA. Goff worked for the town of Upton and still resided there for many years after his retirement. He was residing in the town of Franklin, MA. at the time of his death at age 85 years.
