Inger Aadahl, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at the age of 76 . Born in the small town of Älmhult, Sweden, on June 6, 1944, Inger came into the world the very day the Allies stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day .

After studying science at Stockholm's Laborantskola, Inger worked as a medical technologist at Karolinska Institute, before moving to San Francisco in 1967 . What was intended to be just a year abroad, became over fifty. She worked at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Oakland as a Laboratory Technician, at UCSF Medical Center as a Staff Research Associate, and at Stanford University's science labs as a Life Science Research Assistant, where she participated in Jane Goodall's primate research project, and helped establish new methods in radioimmunoassays of protein hormones. Inger had a passion for nature, hiking, and skiing, competing even in an International cross-country race in Yosemite, where she outraced several of the men and qualified for a mixed relay team. She shared this passion with her future husband Jorg, who proposed during the same ski trip, after becoming enamored by her athleticism, charm and wit, not to mention: her home baked nut cups. A devoted mother, Inger taught her children Swedish, took them on trips nearly every year to Scandinavia to visit family, and immersed them in art and sport. Holidays were dear to her heart, her home filled with the smells of traditional Swedish cooking, holiday craftwork and Scandinavian décor. She stayed home as a devoted mom for 12 years while the children grew up. During this time, she enrolled at California State University, earned a degree in Management Accounting, and graduated Summa Cum Laude, which landed her a job as Accounting Manager for the law firm Laughlin, Falbo, Levy & Moresi, where she worked for 19 years until she retired at the age of 70. Inger is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jorg, children Nina and Erik, their spouses Martin and Nia, siblings Christina and Jan-Olof, and grandson Lukas. She is deeply loved and sorely missed. A memorial service in her honor will be held at a future date.
