-- Obituary from The Wilson Times --

LUCAMA — Ray Benton, 92, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2020, in his home.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Evergreen Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. David Currie.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Pauline Woodard Benton; parents, Herman and Irene Langston Benton; and grandson, Hunter Benton.

He will be remembered in our hearts as a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, friend and PaPa. He retired from farming and became an avid golfer, but all through his life, he always made time for fishing.

He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Pittman (Fred) of Seaford, Virginia, and Sandra Currie (Jesse) of Wilson; son, Mark Hunter Benton of Lucama; grandchildren, Eric Currie (Donna), David Currie (Amanda), Samantha Demyanyuk (Illya), Daniel Pittman (Kristi), Jeffery Benton (Amanda) and Hunter Benton; great-grandchildren, Austin, Kristin, Evan and Landan Currie, Zachary and Emma Currie, Jacob, Olivia and Scarlett Pittman, Alla and Alecksi Demyanyuk and Jaxson and Jace Benton; sister, Geraldine “Jerry” Holland of Goldsboro; brothers, Carl Benton (Peggy) and J.B. Benton (Eunice) of Fremont and Bobby Benton (Sandra) of Pikeville.

The bond between his sister and brothers was hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 2201 Piney Grove Church Road, Kenly, NC 27542.

Arrangements are by Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Drive N., Wilson; www.wilsonmemorialservice.com.
