Harvey John Gamble, age 91 of Lake Mills, passed away peacefully at home on the evening of October 22, 2015 with his beloved wife Dorothy by his side. Harvey was born in Dayton, Ohio on June 21, 1924, son of the late William and Viola (Barbier) Gamble. He grew up and attended school in Detroit, and studied industrial engineering at Albion College in Albion, Michigan.

Harvey's entire working career was spent with the auto industry, first as an industrial engineer and later as a plant manager for Kaiser, Dodge Truck, American Motors, Renault and Chrysler. He had a gift for creating, organizing and leading manufacturing plants, and he led the creation and establishment of trim and wire harness plants for American Motors in Peshtigo, Wisconsin, Michigan and Canada.

Harvey shared with his family a deep love for nature and adventure, from beach combing, hikes with his dog and camping, to canoeing and sailing. A Gamble camping trip could always end a drought, but the rain would never end the camping trip. In his later years right up to the last several months, Harvey and his soul mate Dorothy could be found observing the local wildlife hidden within minutes of their home in Lake Mills, and on their many travels. He taught his kids to get up early and work hard, to take time to play outside, to love their families and their dogs, to sail, to sing silly ditties in the car and to make gop for breakfast.

Harvey is survived by his wife Dorothy Klein Gamble. His children, Tom (Maria) of Waukesha, Sue Yates (Jim) of Payson, Arizona, Dick (Kris) of New London, Scott (Michele) of Hilo, Hawaii and Kathy Cotto of Madison, and by 7 grandchildren, 2 step grandsons, and 7 great grandsons. He is further survived by a brother-in-law Fred (Ivania) Morrill. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Bill and his sister, Betty.

A memorial service for Harvey was held on Monday, October 26, 2015 at Faith Community Church, Fort Atkinson with Pastor Jerry Brown officiating.
