Steve A. Ames

Steven Anthony Ames left his family and friends on March 1, 2016, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, at the age of 61.

He was born in Cambridge, Ohio, on Nov. 4, 1954, to Mary Jane (Barnhart) and Joseph Ames. He moved to Park City, Mont., and attended school there.

He met and later married his wife Patti (Parker) Ames on June 7, 1975, in Livingston, Mont. They had three children Susan, Jaclyn and Douglas Ames. In 1979, they moved to Aberdeen, where they resided until his death.

One of his greatest accomplishments was when he got his GED at Grays Harbor College. Steve loved playing and watching golf. He coached his son and grandson in baseball for many years. He loved watching them play even after he was done coaching.

Steve worked for Industrial Cut Stock for many years. At the time of his death he had worked for Grays Harbor Transit for 21 years.

Steve is survived by his wife of 41 years Patti Ames who resides at the home in Aberdeen; his son Douglas (Jennyfer) Ames of Montesano; his mother Mary Jane Ames of Aberdeen; sister Vicki Ames of Aberdeen; two brothers Tim Ames of Livingston, Mont. and Paul (Teri) Ames of Aberdeen. He had five grandchildren whom he loved dearly; Tyler Ames of Aberdeen, Kelsey Skinner of Elma and Zandar, Kaleb, and Carter Ames all of Montesano; his mother-and father-in-law Pat and Jean Parker of Livingston, Mont.; along with numerous nieces and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by his two daughters Susan and Jaclyn Ames; his father Joseph Ames and brother Andy Ames.

A celebration of life and a potluck will be held at IAM W-2 Woodworkers, 2600 Sumner (upstairs) at 1 o'clock on Saturday, March 5.
