Aubrey married Elvira Caroline McMullen, daughter of William McMullen and Susannah Scott McMullen, on 10 November 1835 in Jackson County, Georgia; the officiating minister was J. W. Glenn. Sometime before 1840, they moved to Chickasaw County, Mississippi with Susannah's parents and siblings and her uncle, James Scott and his family; they settled in that part of Chickasaw that later became Webster County, and it was here they raised their large family.
