Mary Philomena Burns, 89 (formerly of Frederick, Maryland), after a short hospital stay, passed-away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2020.

Mary is survived by five of her six children, Henry E. Burns, Jr, Barbara with her husband Jerry D. Smith, Lois and her husband Mark Kipp, “Little” Mary, and Jeffery Burns with his wife Shawn, as well as her Grandchildren: Cory, Jennifer, Jason, Samantha, Haley and Kaitlyn, plus Great-grandchildren: Zachary), Grayson, John Henry, Daniel, Reilly, Layla Jo, and Izzy).

Mary was 1 of 10 children born to Frederick and Magdalen Schray, and is survived by her siblings Delores, Martin, John, Rose, and Francis. So, you can imagine what a large family she had.

Mary was well loved by all her family and friends for her caring and giving nature, plus her selfless actions. She would take in stray people as well as cats. She loved to read, especially mystery novels (she even graduated from paperbacks to a Nook), Agatha Christie was one of her favorite authors. We would often find “Mom” sitting in her chair working on a crossword puzzle, cryptogram, or reading her prayers (perhaps napping).

Although Mary was new to the Melbourne area, she was a regular parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Community; where a memorial Mass will be held at 11:00am, Monday, September 21, 2020. (In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in the name of Mary P. Burns)

Mary’s ashes will be interred in the Beverly National Cemetery, in Beverly, NJ, along side her deceased husband Henry Edward Burns, Sr.
