Donald Reid Hansen, 90, of Sandy, Utah passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends July 3, 2020. Donald was born July 22,1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Albert and Edna Hansen. He was the 2nd child of Albert and Edna, with brothers and sisters being Albert, Mamie, Lois and Joyce.
Donald graduated from West High School and later graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Northrop Aeronautical Institute. He served his country honorably in the Air Force during WWII and the Korean War. He worked for Northrup Aircraft for 36 years as an Engineer in advanced design. He helped engineer many of the planes that are still flying today like the F5 and many others.
Following his discharge from the Airforce, Donald married the love of his life, Miriam "Mim" Erickson. They were first married June 9, 1956 in Las Vegas, Nevada and later solemnized their marriage in the Los Angeles Temple, May 17, 1963. Donald had the joy of raising 3 wonderful children, Kristi Lee Moses, Reid Donald Hansen and Eric Matthew Hansen.
Donald loved to fish and hunt. He loved watching military movies and had a love of reading.
He is preceded in death by his parents Albert S. and Edna Mae Hansen; his daughter, Kristi Lee Moses; his brother Albert; and two sisters Lois and Joyce.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Miriam “Mim” Hansen; 2 children Reid (DeeAnn) Donald Hansen and Eric Matthew Hansen; 5 grandchildren, Lisa Witham, Kristen Daniels, Ashley Watts, Kathryn “Katie” Hackett, and Kindsey Smith; 12 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog Biscuit.
