He was one of seven children born to Ralph Cook and Clara Turner Cook. He graduated from McEachern High School in 1955. He worked as a supervisor of postal operations for the U.S. Postal Service for 37 years and retired in 1992. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Brenda Barnes Cook; two children, William Todd Cook and his wife, Michelle Cook, and Carla Cook Page and her husband, David Page; five grandchildren, Rachel Cook, Ethan Cook, Jenna Page, Jared Page and Emily Page; and brother, Walter Cook.
