Barbara Goodwin Spain, 82, of Atlanta, died Thursday, April 21, 2016. Barbara was a retired Registered Dietitian with the Atlanta Public School System, and was a member of the former Mary Branan United Methodist Church, which recently merged with Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Atlanta. She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Richard C. Spain; her children, Frances and Clay Carlson, and Kevin and Pauline Manos; and her grandchildren, Alexander Manos, Jon Manos, Adam Carlson, Sam Carlson, and Caty Carlson. A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday , April 25th at Mt Zion United Methodist Church, 2840 Metropolitan Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30315, with Reverend Randy Strickland officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Monday evening from 5 p.m. until the service hour. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004. Donehoo-Lewis Funeral Home, Hapeville.
