Margaret June Aalsburg (Struik) June 28, 1926 June 24, 2018. Margie is celebrating her birthday in heaven with her Lord. She joined a host of friends and family who preceded her into their Savior's loving arms. She was reunited with her beloved husband, Ted (Joe T. Aalsburg), with whom she spent 64 years on earth. She was also greeted by two children Colleen (Connie) A. Wiessner and Theodore (Teddy) J. Aalsburg and two brothers Walter Struik and Bruce Struik. Margie was born in Jamestown, Michigan to William and Alice Struik. She graduated from Zeeland schools where she met her friend of 80 years Iris Myaard (Vande Bunte). At that time 4H was very important in her life and she learned to sew and tailor clothing, one of the many talents that she shared over the years with family and friends. A lifelong member of the Reformed Church in America, her faith was a central point of her life. She met her Ted on a blind date, and within a year they married and settled in southeast Grand Rapids where they raised their five children. They also purchased a cottage on Silver Lake in Rockford where many wonderful summers were spent swimming, waterskiing and entertaining. Later that cottage became their home. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by three children Susan K. Aalsburg of Belmont; Debra (David) A. Smale of Brevard, NC; and Timothy (Sheila) M. Aalsburg of Ada and son-in-law Rev. Charles A. Wiessner of Livingston NY. She will be fondly remembered and missed by her seven grandchildren: Kenneth (Maranda) G. Aalsburg of Grand Rapids; Nathaniel (Kimberly Ciola) T. Wiessner of No. Adams, MA; Brianna L. Smale of Wilmington, DE; Benjamin C. Wiessner of Durham, NC; Gregory P. Smale of Grand Rapids; Chloe J. Aalsburg of Grand Rapids; and Maya R. Aalsburg of Ada. She is survived by a precious great-grandchild, Benjamin Brody of No. Adams, MA. She is also survived by her brother Richard (Corynn) A. Struik of Ocala, FL; her brother-in-law John Aalsburg of Grand Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. Margie was a resident of Heron Woods in Grand Rapids at the time of her death where she enjoyed the final chapter of her life with new friends and new experiences. Her family wishes to thank the staff of Heron Woods and DMS (formerly Porter Hills Plus Care) for their care. Further, they wish to thank the staff of Emmanuel Hospice and Gauthier Family Home Care for their very attentive care during the last weeks of her life. By her wish, cremation has taken place. Interment with her Ted will take place at Rest Lawn Cemetery.
