My mother, Aileen Elizabeth Near, 102 years old, died February 6, 2001. She had been a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Richmond, Va. Aileen in her early years taught school at Salem and Matoaca in Chesterfield County, Va.; also in an Episcopal church school in Havana, Cuba, circa 1918 to 1930. She attended William and Mary and the University of Virginia. She served as an aid lady at McGuire's Hospital during WWII. She was the daughter of D. Wiley and Sarah Graves Anderson, Scottsville, Va. She is survived by her son, William Harold Near; two grandsons, William C., Richmond, Michael A., Georgia; and a granddaughter, Hollis Page in Seattle, Wash. Also she is survived by sisters, Virginia Huges, Mollie Van Allen, Phyllis Davis; and brother, David P. Anderson; and many nieces and nephews. Service will be held at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Scottsville, Va., February 13, at 1 p.m. Interment at Scottsville Cemetery. No flowers please.
