Virginia Inez "Ginger" Barber, 86, of Jacksonville died July 29 in Jacksonville. Graveside services were held Aug. 1 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Jacksonville with the Rev. Michael Lewis officiating.

She was born Dec. 29, 1920 in Cameron to Owen Dewey and Louisa Kuhn Weems.
She was a member of the First Christian Church as the first woman elder. She was also a member of the PTA, Pink Ladies Auxiliary of ETMC and Hyperion Study Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen Dewey and Louisa Kuhn Weems; husband, Lincoln Barber, Jr.; son, Lincoln Barber, III; daughter, Ginny Barber Dumond; grandson, David Barber and sister, Marjorie Weems.
Survivors include sons, Bruce Barber and wife, Brenda, of Bullard; Steve Barber and wife, Kathi, of Arlington and Craig Barber and wife, Lana, of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Grant Barber and wife, Afton; Jennifer and Chad Long; Brandi and Anthony Katagas; Rick and Stephanie Lundrum; Lance and Michelle Morton; Casey and Clayton Kennington, Leigh and Charles Christie, Lincoln Barber IV, Matthew Dumond and Stacey and Bill Anderson and eight great-grandchildren.
