Daily Democrat, Clinton MO, May 26 2004 - Roxie May Blackaby was born October 6, 1920, in Rose Hill Township, Johnson County, daughter of Robert Ottowa and Effie Mae Coulson Harwood. She died May 10, 2004, at her home in Clinton. She was joined in marriage to Eugene Leroy Blackaby on December 23, 1938, at the Calhoun Methodist Church. Eugene preceded her in death on February 1, 1992. Her parents and one grandson, Johnny O'Neal, also preceded him. Roxie May was baptized into the Christian Church at the age of 15 years and later moved her letter to the Bear Creek Methodist Church where her husband was baptized near LaDue. Survivors include her 12 children, Rogena Ruth Ragland, Ottawa, Kansas, Roberta Lee Reed, Blodgett, William Leroy Blackaby, Holden, Roetta Mae Barker, Windsor, Eugene Larry Blackaby, Centerview, Harold Dean Blackaby, Clinton, Roxanna Sue Richey, Warrensburg, Roma Jean Blackaby, Lebanon, Jimmie Wayne Blackaby, Clinton, Robert Wesley Blackaby, Clinton, Ronda Fay Dizney, Adrian, James Roy Blackaby, Lowry City; one brother, Walter William Harwood, Lime Springs, Iowa; 36 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held May 14 at the Bible Baptist Church. Burial was in Calhoun Cemetery.
