AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Claire Teague Walsh, 85, died at her home, May 6, 2007. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Lt. Col. John J. Walsh (USAF retired). She was the mother of Michele Walsh Kelliher of Augusta and Anita Walsh Moore of Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Thomas Kelliher of Chicago, Monica Kelliher Wolfram of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Bernadette Kelliher Carr of Long Island, New York and Patrick Hall of Orlando, Florida, as well as 9 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Walsh was a native of Augusta, a member of St. Mary on-the-Hill Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, and a charter member of the Irish American Heritage Society. She was a past president of the Mental Health Association of Greater Augusta and was instrumental in founding the Friendship Community Center. She received the first Claire Walsh award established by the Mental Health Association of Georgia in her honor. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at St. Mary on-the-Hill Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
